I’ve always said it is the user, not the tools. Philip is an exceptionally talented DoP. He probably could come up with some beautifully crafted shots from a mobile; but why bother.
Good stuff Philip, as usual.

Besides that, i am a huge fan of this site and i am a great admirer of Philip Bloom but i like footage shot with Canon lenses a lot more than footage shot with Nikon lenses. No exceptions so far.
I have seen lots and lots of footage on the web and i own a 5DmkII myself.
Maybe there is a commercial factor here in that Phil already had the Nikon lenses and i can understand that he is not very keen to buy himself into the Canon line because of the extra investment.
Its the only reason i can come up with. Otherwise… i just dont understand as far its a matter of taste.
Keep on the good work !
Cheers,
Michiel

March 15, 2010 at 14:49i already had Nikon lenses as I used them for my Letus 35mm adaptor. They have manual irises which make them better for 35mm adaptor than the EOS lenses.

May 9, 2009 at 17:34Hey, I’ve always admired your work. the 5D MK2 seems to be a great machine, not only for photo but also for occasional videographers like me
I always wondered about the music and copyrights, do you ask permission to use their music? I always hesitated to use “commercial” music in my stuff
pbloom
May 10, 2009 at 06:55i credit them and am starting to put links to buy their work on my site…for commercial projects the music is licensed.

May 9, 2009 at 13:34Excellent stuff! How did you go about doing the time lapse of the sunset on the 5D? Did you you roll continuously and speed it up or does the 5D have a time lapse function?
pbloom
May 10, 2009 at 06:56yeah I just rolled. There is a timelapse stills function but you need the remote cord which I have just got!
